One week of The Guardian: Tuesday Well it’s been about a month since the printed paper I’ve been visualising was published. If only there were more hours in the day I’d get these out alot faster, minus distractions which have been pretty hefty the past couple of weeks what with presentations and stuff. One thing I noticed in this issue was that some articles were changed after they were printed (example), and are posted updated on the Guardian website. As I’m using the papers for the visuals, I ignored the updated articles and went with what was printed. Today’s visual lists all of the headlines to appear in The Guardian for February 19th 2008, and sized them according to their word count for each article. Some of the more important words, words that describe particular actions, or names of people or places have been illustrated in order to more effectively communicate the headline. (Although the plain one is really really nice too!) What I wanted to show was just how many stories are in The Guardian newspaper, and highlight some of the more meaningful words. There are alot, averaging at around 60 stories a day, plus change on the weekend edition. The previews are sized at about 80% of the original, and the larger preview is at 72DPI. They’re not as sharp as the original print file, but they’re close. Anyways, here’s the highlights.
